Block II: Corporate Management

30 January-17 February 2012 (15 days of instruction without weekends)

The Corporate Management course is conducted in cooperation with the Department of Management, Technology and Economics (MTEC) of ETH Zurich. The broad objective is to enhance participants’ understanding of the operational and strategic functioning of large organizations in the public and private sectors. Special attention is given to the relationships between customers and suppliers and competitors and complementors.

Learning Objectives

The main goals are on the one hand an understanding of a general management, strategy, operational excellence, risk, innovation, and technology management. On the other hand, hotspots like the new public management, ethics, and corporate governance will be covered as well.

Learning Content

The course block contains the following topics amongst others: evolution of technology, technology and law, diffusion of and strategic technology, technology transfer; restructuring and managing downsizing, growth management in institutions and markets, risk management; corporate governance, safety and securities, foresight and scenario techniques, multinational organization.
