Block I: Crisis Leadership

The Crisis Leadership course of the MAS ETH SPCM is conducted to raise the level of participants’ personal development and crisis fitness. Moreover, the course enhances in a measurable way participants’ crisis leadership competencies in a multinational and diverse environment.

Learning Objectives

The main goals are to learn how to manage contingencies and resources strategically based on best practices, on an awareness of recovery instruments and a knowledge of the human impact. Furthermore, participants should learn to lead effectively across cultures and organizations in crises. Finally, they should know how to work effectively with the media using critical tactical, operational, and strategic crisis communications instruments.

Learning Content

The course block contains the following topics amongst others: public and private crisis leadership, crisis communication, leadership psychology, cross-cultural and cross-organizational leadership, moral and ethical foundations of decisionmaking, team dynamics and crisis team workorganizational crises, networks of risk, risk perception, and media training.
